Operation School Bell began in August 2021 for the 2021/2022 school year. Students and their families came to Old Navy for thirty-two shopping days between August 2021 and January 2022. Volunteers from Assistance League Santa Clarita hosted the families and helped them shop. Social workers referred students to our program from their school or their school district. We served over 650 students at an approximate cost of $50,000.
Student referrals came from all school districts throughout the valley and included children from transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade. Thanks is due to our generous donors of wonderful merchandise, as well as the shoppers at our Resale Store whose dollars help make this program possible. Additional referrals will be accepted from the social workers through March 2022 when the Philanthropic Committee will begin planning for the upcoming school year.
