About Us
We assist those in need in the Santa Clarita Valley through our philanthropic programs.
We serve students in all 55 public schools and College of the Canyons.
We also help families and seniors through our Community Outreach Programs.
History
In 1989, Cindy Anderson, our founding member, went to La Cañada to visit her mother-in-law. At that visit, she was introduced to the local chapter of Assistance League and witnessed the positive impact that their philanthropic programs had upon the community.
Cindy wanted this for her own community of Santa Clarita. She gathered a few friends, and through her leadership and their hard work, Assistance League of Santa Clarita was born.
Teddy Bear Patrol, our first program, has been comforting those in crisis or distress since 1989. For over 30 years we have been providing bears to first responders to distribute when they are called to an emergency.
Our first Operation School Bell® program, funded with money that was raised through garage sales, provided new shoes for Newhall Elementary School students in need. Today, our Operation School Bell Program has grown to provide benefits to underserved students in transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade at every school in our valley.
Our chapter currently has over 200 members with vast experience and skills, furthering the success of our chapter.
Resale Store
Assistance League of Santa Clarita has managed a resale store that is the primary source of funding for our philanthropic programs since 1999.
Our store is staffed entirely by members who have contributed over 950,000 volunteer hours. We pay no salaries, as we are a 100% all-volunteer organization.
We are committed to providing the maximum funds possible to meet increasing needs in the Santa Clarita Valley.
President’s Message
Assistance League of Santa Clarita is comprised of over 200 dedicated member volunteers who are the heart and soul of our chapter.
By contributing thousands of service hours annually, our members support children, families and seniors living in our community through a variety of philanthropic programs.
Our programs are supported by monetary donations and our resale store, which is a significant source of funding. A highly successful small business, our resale store has survived recessions and a pandemic.
Our beautiful store is a point of pride for our members, as it has become a shopping destination for our community.
The success of our store is a result of the generosity of donors who deliver treasures to us and our all-volunteer staff who organize this wide variety of goods into colorful and attractive displays.
Customers line up outside the store every day we are open in anticipation of finding the perfect treasures.
Donations become dollars to fund philanthropic programs that make a difference in the lives of the families in our community.
Seeing the joy on children’s faces as they put on their first pair of eyeglasses or select a new outfit for school makes our work worthwhile.
The remarkable members of our chapter truly make a difference in the community we serve.
I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our programs and ways you can join us to support our work in the Santa Clarita Valley.
I am extremely fortunate to serve as president of such an outstanding organization.
