Front Of Store Scaled

Resale Store

This has been a week of Assistance League Santa Clarita celebration! On Sunday, May 16, we held our VIP Reception for our much appreciated donors who have given $1000+. We hosted over one-hundred people who were in awe of our store. Thanks go to the committee who presented beautiful food offerings, a charcuterie in an individual box and cookies in pretty bags, to comply with COVID-19 requirements. Red and white wine wines were poured by Jake Hagen, and the wonderful music of Tommy Peacock was enjoyed by all. He definitely had our toes a tappin’.

On Tuesday, May 18, our decades long dream came true as we cut the ribbon and unlocked our doors for our first day of business in our new location. We were happy to have over fifty people in line waiting to become our first shoppers! The beauty of our store has everyone awestruck. We have seen a return of our Main Street regular customers and many new faces. All are smiling. I overheard one lady say to her friend who has been our regular customer, “I told you that I didn’t like thrift stores, but I will definitely come back here.”

I cannot thank everyone individually who has made our dream a reality, because I might leave out a name. All of our members should know that ALSC volunteers have devoted thousands of hours to this building. Two other wonderful volunteers have been Art Johnson and Steve Tranovich, husbands of Mel and Carolyn. Their height, strength and knowledge was greatly needed and appreciated. I have never before been involved with a project such as this. We moved a business from a location of over twenty years to a new one, and we are all still friends and smiling! I am humbled and surprised as I thank you for awarding to me the Anne Banning Leadership Award. I share this leadership award with so many others who our President Gayle calls Remarkable Women. You should all stop for a minute and realize that we truly are exactly that. Welcome to the new home we have created!
