About Us
Our community-based philanthropic programs serve students, seniors and families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Transforming Lives & Strengthening Community
As one of 85 Assistance League® chapters, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting families across Santa Clarita Valley.
Since 1989, Assistance League has served the community as an all-volunteer organization. Today, more than 200 women and men share their time and talents to strengthen Santa Clarita. Proceeds from The Resale Store fund philanthropic programs that improve residents’ lives through clothing, vision care, literacy, scholarships, support former foster youth and more. The chapter serves all five Santa Clarita school districts as well as College of the Canyons, a public community college with campuses in Valencia and Canyon Country.
The Beginning
The Santa Clarita chapter began in 1989, when 12 local women formed an Assistance League Guild to make a philanthropic impact in the community. In 1993, the Guild became a chapter of National Assistance League.
For more than two decades, we were a Main Street staple in Downtown Newhall, first as Take Two and later as The Resale Shop.
In 2018, we purchased the property at 26045 Bouquet Canyon Road. Renovations to the 1960’s-era commercial building began in 2020 during COVID. On May 18, 2021, we opened The Resale Store, a 5,512 square foot space, to the Santa Clarita Valley community, including an SCV Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony.
